How to use the Instagram panorama splitter

  1. 1

Choose a wide photo, such as a panorama from your phone. JPG, PNG and WebP all work.

  2. 2

    Pick the slide size: 4:5 (1080 × 1350), the usual portrait size, 3:4 (1080 × 1440), which is a little taller, or 1:1 (1080 × 1080).

  3. 3

Leave the number of slides on Auto to use the photo’s full width, or choose between 2 and 10 slides.

  4. 4

Drag the photo or use the sliders to set the vertical position and zoom. The dashed lines show where each slide ends.

  5. 5

Download the slides or Download all (.zip), then add them to one Instagram carousel in order, slide 1 first.

About this tool

An Instagram panorama splitter cuts one wide image into equal slides that sit side by side. Because each slide ends exactly where the next begins, the photo looks continuous when someone swipes through the carousel. The slides are saved at Instagram’s 1080-pixel width so nothing is resized again on upload.

Auto picks the number of slides that uses your photo’s whole width without zooming in. Choosing more slides means each one covers less of the photo, so you will see a note if a slide would come out softer than its saved size.

A carousel can hold up to 20 photos and videos, so a split panorama leaves room for a cover or a closing slide. If you want designed seamless carousels, with text and photos that flow across slides, try the Postora Swipe app for Android.

Questions about the Instagram panorama splitter

What is the best size for a panorama carousel on Instagram?

Portrait slides fill more of the screen than square ones. 4:5 (1080 × 1350 pixels) is the long-standing portrait size; Instagram has also accepted taller 3:4 photos (1080 × 1440) since 2025, and they match the profile grid’s 3:4 thumbnails. 1:1 slides suit a photo that is only a little wider than tall.

How many slides can an Instagram carousel have?

Up to 20 photos and videos in one post. This tool splits a panorama into 2 to 10 slides, which covers most wide photos and leaves room for other slides in the same carousel.

Why does my panorama not line up when I swipe?

Usually because the slides were not all the same size, or Instagram cropped them. Keep every slide in the carousel at the same ratio, and add them in order. The slides from this tool are exactly equal, so the seams meet.

Can I split a vertical photo?

Yes, but the result is less striking: a tall photo fills one or two slides before you need to zoom in. The splitter works best with photos at least twice as wide as they are tall.

Are my photos uploaded?

No. Your browser opens the photo, cuts it and saves the slides on your device. Nothing is sent anywhere.
