How to Post a Carousel on LinkedIn

Updated · By the Postora team

To post a carousel on LinkedIn, save your slides as one PDF, click Start a post, open More and choose Add a document. Upload the PDF, give it a title, click Done, write your post text and click Post. On the mobile app, tap Post, then More, then Document, and follow the same steps.

Before you post: get the PDF right

LinkedIn has no carousel button. A carousel is a document post: LinkedIn takes a file and shows its pages one at a time. That means almost every posting problem is a file problem, so check these first.

  • One file, one slide per page. LinkedIn allows only one document per post (LinkedIn FAQ).
  • PDF if you can. LinkedIn accepts PDF, PPT, PPTX, DOC and DOCX, but recommends converting to PDF first (LinkedIn Help).
  • Under 100 MB and 300 pages. Those are LinkedIn’s limits for document uploads.
  • Every page the same size. 1080 × 1350 px (4:5) is the usual choice. See the LinkedIn carousel size guide.
  • Flattened. PDFs with several layers can fail; LinkedIn suggests flattening or merging them.
  • No animation needed. Videos and animations in the file show as still images.

If your slides are separate images, combine them in order with the free images to LinkedIn carousel PDF tool. It works in your browser and nothing is uploaded.

How to post a carousel on LinkedIn on desktop

These steps follow LinkedIn’s help article on sharing documents. Button names and icons can change a little between LinkedIn updates.

  1. Go to your LinkedIn homepage and click Start a post.
  2. In the post window, click More, then the Add a document icon.
  3. Click Choose file and select your PDF. You can also pick a file from Dropbox or Google Drive.
  4. Type a title for the document and click Done.
  5. Write the post text that goes above the carousel. Hashtags and @mentions are optional.
  6. Click Post, or use the clock icon to schedule it for later.

Give the upload a moment to process. The carousel appears in your feed and on the Activity section of your profile, where LinkedIn lists the documents you have shared.

How to post a carousel on LinkedIn from your phone

  1. Open the LinkedIn app and tap Post.
  2. Tap the More icon, then tap Document.
  3. Choose the PDF from your phone or a cloud service. Cloud files need that service’s app installed.
  4. Add a title and tap Next.
  5. Write your post text.
  6. Tap Post, or tap the clock icon to schedule it.

If you design on a computer and post from your phone, save the PDF to your phone’s files or a cloud drive first. The PDF should be the final version: once posted, the document cannot be swapped (more on that below).

What to write as the document title

LinkedIn requires a title for every document, and asks you to use it to tell members what the document is about. It shows with the carousel, so treat it as a second headline, not a file name.

  • Do: “A 5-step onboarding checklist for new managers”
  • Do: “Cold email rewrites: before and after”
  • Avoid: “carousel_final_v3”, “Untitled” or a copy of your post’s first line

LinkedIn does not publish a character limit for document titles. Keep them short, around a single line, so they do not get cut off. You can change the title later; the file itself you cannot.

Write the post that goes with the carousel

The text above a carousel works like a caption. It gets up to 3,000 characters, but people only see the first few lines before “…see more”, so the opening has to earn the click on its own.

  • Open with one line that adds to the cover slide rather than repeating it.
  • Give two or three lines of context: who it is for and what they will get.
  • Tell readers to swipe or click through, then end with a question that invites a real answer.

Check the cut-off and the length with the free LinkedIn post preview, and use the LinkedIn text formatter if you want bold lines or bullets. For every LinkedIn limit, see our LinkedIn character limit guide.

Free tool: LinkedIn post preview. See the “see more” cut-off and count characters before you post.

How to schedule a carousel post on LinkedIn

LinkedIn has built-in scheduling. After attaching the document and writing the post, click the clock icon (lower right of the post window on desktop, upper right on mobile), choose a date and time, click Next, then Schedule.

  • You can schedule between 10 minutes and 3 months ahead from a personal profile (LinkedIn Help).
  • To see, edit, reschedule or delete scheduled posts, open the post window, click the clock icon and choose View all scheduled posts.
  • For LinkedIn Pages, admins can schedule from one hour to three months ahead (LinkedIn Help).

Frequently asked questions

Why is there no carousel option on LinkedIn?

Because a LinkedIn carousel is a document post. Use More, then Add a document (desktop) or Document (mobile), and upload a PDF. LinkedIn shows the pages as swipeable slides.

Can I post a LinkedIn carousel from my phone?

Yes. In the app, tap Post, then More, then Document, choose your PDF, add a title and post it.

Can I schedule a LinkedIn carousel?

Yes. LinkedIn’s scheduling help lists only events and job posts as unsupported for personal profiles. Use the clock icon in the post window and pick a time between 10 minutes and 3 months ahead.

Can I change the PDF after posting?

No. You can edit the post text and the document title, but to change the slides you need to delete the post and upload a new one.

Can I upload PowerPoint instead of PDF?

LinkedIn accepts PPT and PPTX, but it recommends PDF for the best result, since fonts and layouts stay exactly as you designed them.
